Independent Alpine didn’t start in a boardroom or from a business plan—it started through years spent outside. Long ski seasons, river days, road trips, campfires, and the kinds of friendships that naturally form when people share real experiences together.
We’re just two guys who genuinely believe the outdoors has a way of bringing out the best in people. Independent Alpine was built from the idea that experiences matter, good people matter, and sometimes all it takes is getting outside to feel like yourself again.

For most of my life, the outdoors has been where I’ve felt most at home. From years spent on ski patrol to over a decade guiding on the river, I’ve seen firsthand how powerful shared experiences outside can be. Some of the strongest friendships, best conversations, and most meaningful moments in my life happened somewhere between a mountain, a river, or a campfire. My goal is to create the kind of experiences I’ve always valued myself—simple, meaningful, and centered around good people, good conversations, and time spent outside.

Ian McKendry is a 27-year-old from Western Maine that has spent much of his childhood and adult life in the woods. As a Registered Maine Hunting Guide and a Ski Patroller he spends his workday outside as well. With Independent Alpine he hopes to show the outdoors to a new group of people and create a community around group trips.
